Bend tests- the new Insanity

Apple sets the standard, pro bono publico.

When gorilla glass displays started masking the screens of mobile devices, drop tests started pouring in, devices being dropped casually, thrown deliberately, being run over by trucks and other locomotives (as if the physical well being of a mobile device is more important than of a dude holding it! :P). Some of the more insane tests were exposing devices to fire, cutting them by chainsaws and literally hammering them(yes you read it right!).

Here with the release of the new iPhones we have a new insanity in town, bizarre bend tests. Social networks are right now flooded with bend tests memes, videos and guys mercilessly bending every other phone they are getting their hands on. This is madness. Is it a phone or a fulcrum?

The amount of force being exerted by the people doing bend test videos I have seen is no where in comparison to any scenario in real life, exceptions are fender benders and other fatal military or industrial accidents.

But when Apple releases a new iPhone, and if it bends by even a few degrees who am I to argue!

Update 1: Liquid Nitrogen and sledgehammer test!

Update 2: bLender test

PS: Nokia says “Hi” :P
