The Kingkiller chronicles (Patrick Rothfuss)

Why this book?

This is my most favorite book series of all times, it’s simply amazing and on the second read is bringing up so much more. It’s magic - its simple to read, very engrossing and highly imaginative. It’s very easy to go along this ride and extremely rewarding, magic is made up very interesting rules and the imagination is very simple yet terrifying and fascinating like the cruciform parasite in hyperion cantos. Upon the second reading I am trying to figure out why I like it so much - what makes it an easy, interesting and highly imaginative read - what triggers the imaginations to be vivid and quick? And the more I read the more I see the use of common similes and metaphors twisted in interesting ways “the smell of burning hair”. It’s an instant awakening of a deep part of the brain and mind and instantly invokes something familiar but forgotten and all the emotions with it - burning hair is not good FYI - it’s anxiety provoking, terrifying but also a bit exciting on whats to come next. He uses these frequently to grasp attention and put it to use in vivid imagination not just of scenes and sights but for colors, smells, ambience, texture, sound and timbre, the weaving of behavior, the feeling of learning a skill and so on. It’s bonkers 💣

Plan is to put some of these pieces down here - while reading the novel to bring these gems out and keep them for reading later as when I lack motivation and creativity or just want to revisit some of the most fun time spent reading. Sanderson feels like I am going on battle and my head is all filled up with anger, rage and a feeling of revenge and ambition, Rothfuss feels like pure art - like this is the best and only way things could happen or should happen and it’s the most exciting way they can. My imagination is fully captured and I can find no faults in it, I read in a trance appreciating the beauty spread in words
