building stuff
Often times I get a wave of negative emotions. Usually it’s noticable with a mild hopelessness, which if I do not act upon turns into anxiety and restlessness. Everyone has their own sets of goals, emotions are merely a signal of alignment of your present as compared to your imagined future (or some un anlyzed past, the brain thinks there is still some signal left).
What has recently started working for me is noticing it (being aware of it) and then instantly doing something hard (usually something pending), at home it’s usually cleaning (emptying trash, cleaning the litter etc), at work it’s usually projects pending decisions or where ambiguity is involved. As soon as I start working on them and reach a stage of deep work even if for a few minutes, I can start to feel the negative emotions die down.
For me truly building stuff works the best (paving the way/ sharpening my tools is also a relaxing pass time). It instantly helps me overcome negativity, slowness and hopelessness. It also helps me to enjoy my down time better - I am more relaxed, less anxious when I know that I have worked on what matters the most to me.
The more I am aligned to my goal and the more focussed I am, the greater is reduction in negative emotions and increase in positive emotions.
I will keep experimenting, noticing it is key.
