iOS- why you cant/wont come back
Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works.
With the release of iOS 8, and the world growing berserk about updates, large screen iPhone and iWatches with different ad-dons, one thing is clear Apple is still HOT. I recently got a chance to work with a number of iOS devices viz iPhone (5S,5,4S,4), iPad(Mini and Air) with firmwares ranging from 7.1.2 to 8.0(GM). I also had access to development Macs (Mini, Pro, Air) loaded with Maverick, Lion and Yosemite.
Considering I am a power user(well more than a power user), I am impressed with the build quality of Apple, you can literally feel them. One touch and you can feel the premium metal finish be it a Mac-book or iPad. This is not the case with Android devices and we cant blame them because of the differences between OEM’s.
On the simpler side of things Apple is really cool for niche users, who want a decent enough smartphone for enjoying and playing with apps, keeping track of regular tasks. The platform is growing but in a controlled and rather constricted manner. It cannot be compared in any way, either in the software or the hardware department with android. It’s simply not right to compare them. It’s like racing a Aventador with a Mustang. Nothing comes out of it. Droids either have super massive beastly specs which can put your Laptop/PC to shame or are so cheap that you may regret buying a feature phone now. It’s a wild uncertain world where you are free to imagine anything/everything at any price range. The recent success of Moto E,G,G2,X have proved it. Xiaomi with its Mi series has taken it to a new level and now the Android One Platform is going to be a feature phone killer.
Apple on the other hand has record preorders for its new iPhone 6 and 6+ which indicates that people still love iPhones and the concept behind them.
A Droid with its enormous specs and crazy hardware gives you immense power which can be further unleashed by gaining access to root permissions and overclocking the already throttling CPUs, however with great power comes great responsibility(No pun intended….okay a little intended :P). The increasing privacy issues and location access issues are an example of this. Apple on the other hand is the cool and calm younger brother who just knows how to do things right in a beautiful, artistic way.

Well the question boils down to- which one do you choose?
